Listening link, short link and expiry

How links are built, how long messages stay available and how you assign your own short addresses.

The listening link

Every message gets its own address: https://speeeak.io/n/<ID>. The ID is a random string – nobody can guess links. Anyone who has the link can listen; there is deliberately no password so recipients never have to type anything.

Short links (Plus and up)

With Plus you can give each message its own name: https://speeeak.io/l/your-name.

  1. In your account under Messages, fill in the “/l/” field next to the message (2–40 characters: lowercase letters, digits, hyphen; umlauts are rewritten).
  2. OK – done. The long link keeps working.

A name can only be used once. Some words are reserved (e.g. konto, preise, api).

Expiry

Free Plus / Pro / Business
Message stays available 7 days 90 days (Business: 1 year)

After that the recording is deleted automatically – file and record. The listening page then shows “This message no longer exists”. The expiry date is shown on every listening page (“Available until …”) and in your message list.

Deleting earlier

  • With an account: Messages → “Delete” next to the message.
  • Without an account: After creating the message you get a delete link below the listening link. Keep it – with it you can remove the message yourself at any time, without asking us.
  • Recipients who want a message deleted should contact the sender – the sender can delete it at any time.

Every deletion is recorded in the deletion log (without content – only when and why).

How often was it played?

In the message list you can see whether and when a message was last played. Nothing more is recorded – no location, no device data.
